BRIAN PHILLIPS
(Chairman, Non-Executive)
AWASM-Mining, FAusIMM, MIMMM.
Mr Phillips is a mining engineer with over 40 years experience in the mining industry. He worked for the Goldfields Group in Tasmania, the United Kingdom and Western Australia. In 1981, he joined Metals Exploration Limited and served as an executive director of Metals Exploration, North Kalgurli Mines Limited and Gold Mines of Kalgoorlie Limited. Mr Phillips joined MPI Mines Limited in 1992 and was managing director from October 2002 until December 2004, followed by two years as chairman of Leviathan Resources Limited. He was a non-executive director of Perseverance Corporation from January 2007 until February 2008. He is a Non-Executive Director of Tawana Resources NL, and a Non-Executive Director of Panoramic Resources Limited. Mr Phillips is a past president of the Victorian Chamber of Mines (now the Minerals Council of Australia – Victorian division).
RICHARD LAUFMANN
(CEO and Managing Director)
B Eng (Mining), MAusIMM, MAICD.
Mr Laufmann is a mining engineer with extensive experience in underground mining. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Indophil in June 2007. From 2002 to March 2007, Mr Laufmann was the managing director and chief executive officer of Ballarat Goldfields NL. He is a Non-Executive Director of Rex Minerals Limited, and he is a past chairman of the state council of the Minerals Council of Australia – Victorian division. From 1986 to 2001, Mr Laufmann worked for WMC and held a number of managerial positions, including manager-mining at Kambalda nickel operations, general manager – St Ives and general manager – gold operations. In 1996-97, Mr Laufmann was project study manager for WMC at the Tampakan Project. Mr Laufmann is involved with the Consortium offer. This involvement creates a potential conflict of interest with respect to the consideration of the competing offers. The Independent Directors have established protocols consistent with the Takeovers Panel’s Guidance Note in relation to participating insiders.
TONY ROBBINS
(Director, Non-Executive)
BSc (Hons), MSc MAusIMM, MIMMM, FAAG.
Mr Robbins is a geologist/geochemist with over 40 years experience in the mining industry. From 1968 to 1996, Mr Robbins worked for WMC where he held a number of senior positions including Operations Manager, Exploration Manager – Eastern Australia and Exploration Manager – South East Asia/Pacific region. In his last position with WMC, Mr Robbins managed the exploration program and the team that discovered the Tampakan Project. Mr Robbins was also involved in the discoveries of the Benambra copper deposit, Junction, Redeemer and Yandan gold deposits, Edwin nickel deposit and Olympic Dam. He is a past president of the Philippine Mineral Exploration Association and is a member of the Board of the Philippine Chamber of Mines. In 2007, Mr Robbins was honoured with a prestigious Philippine mining industry award. Mr Robbins is Indophil`s representative in South East Asia on the basis of 60 days service over a two year period. Mr Robbins is Indophil’s nominated Director on the Sagittarius Board. Mr Robbins has lived or worked in the South East Asia mining community for almost 20 years.
KYLE WIGHTMAN
(Director, Non-Executive)
BComm, MBA, FAICD, CFTP (Snr).
Mr Wightman is an economist, financier and business consultant with over 40 years experience, particularly relating to the feasibility, development and financing of major projects and investments. Mr Wightman has held a number of senior roles, including positions in CRA Limited (now Rio Tinto Limited) as treasurer – AM&S and treasurer-projects, in both Chase Manhattan Bank Australasia and Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited as head of project & structured finance, and in PricewaterhouseCoopers as director-projects. Mr Wightman now advises private and public sector clients on major projects through his own company, Tait Capital Pty Ltd. Mr Wightman has been involved in the development and financing of a number of major projects, including Argyle Diamonds, Tarong Coal, Mount Channar Iron Ore, Misima Gold, Energy Developments Ltd, Melbourne City Link and the Loy Yang A Power Privatization. He is a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the audit and finance committee of Ivanhoe Australia Limited.
RICHARD POTTS
(Director, Non-Executive)
ARSM, BSc (Mining Engineering), CE(UK), FIMMM, FAusIMM.
Mr Potts, born in Nairobi (Kenya), has held senior positions with major international mining companies including MIM, Rio Tinto, Pasminco and Ticor. He is a Non-Executive Director of Riversdale Mining Limited, MinTails Limited and Copper Strike Limited, and has provided consulting advice to a number of mining groups including Rio Tinto, Albidon, Indophil and Lion. On 16 April 2008, M Potts took a leave of absence from the Indophil Board during Indophil’s bid for Lion. Mr Potts’ leave of absence continues and he has not been involved in making decisions in relation to the offers from Xstrata or the Consortium.
