The Buda and Mt Kinabalin project areas consist of two separate blocks of tenements located in the Central Mindanao Cordillera on the interpreted continuation of the volcanic arc segment that hosts the Tampakan copper-gold deposit in southern Mindanao. The project areas straddle several provincial and administrative boundaries.
The Buda project is the southern block of tenements which forms part of Indophil`s Central Mindanao Project area. The project area is located approximately 100km from Davao City to the southwest. The tenements consiste of three Indophil exploration permit applications and a further four Freeport exploration permit applications which are the subject of a farm-in joint venture by Indophil.
The Mt Kinabalin project is the northern block of six Freeport exploration permit applications which are also the subject of a farm-in joint venture by Indophil. Under the terms of the joint venture, Indophil has the right to earn a 100% interest in the tenements subject to a clawback option by Freeport. The project area is centred approximately 90km east of Cagayan De Oro City in the province of Bukidnon. The Buda and Mt Kinabalin project areas lie within the Central Mindanao Cordillera which forms part of the northern end of the Miocence to Pliocene age Sangihe Volcanic Arc that trends northwards from Sulawesi in Indonesia. This arc contains the Tampakan Project in southern Mindanao and the Minahasa gold mine and Awak-Mas gold deposits in Indonesia. It also hosts several porphyry copper deposits in northern Sulawesi. There are a number of areas of small-scale gold mining activity within the projects and Indophil`s interpretation of early stage exploration results by past explorers has highlighted 19 separate anomalous areas for follow-up. These include three high priority targets based on coincident anomalous multi-element geochemistry, geology and structure. Channel sampling of a massive sulphide outcrop associated with a major fault zone at the Bangan prospect within the Buda project, returned 5.8m at 31g/t gold, 80g/t silver and 1.05% copper from three adjacent samples. The Central Mindanao project area is believed by Indophil to have potential for the discovery of prophyry copper-gold and related styles of mineralisation, including base metal rich massive sulphides. The current focus is on securing tenement grant. |
